LEADERSHIP EXPERIENCES

Exploring Leadership Across Our Community

Government and Civic Leadership

RCSA students gain a closer understanding of government, citizenship, and public service through visits from elected officials, school board members, civic leaders, and public-sector professionals.

These experiences help students learn how local and state institutions serve communities, how public decisions are made, and why responsible participation matters. Students may also take part in interviews, presentations, discussions, and educational visits connected to government and civic life.

Meetings with educators, administrators, school board members, and other education leaders help students understand the people and responsibilities involved in supporting successful schools.

Students learn about instructional leadership, school improvement, student support, educational policy, and the importance of collaboration among teachers, families, administrators, and the wider community.

Business owners, professionals, entrepreneurs, and industry representatives introduce students to a variety of career paths and workplace experiences.

Through presentations, conversations, mentoring, and school visits, students learn about professional expectations, communication, teamwork, problem-solving, education requirements, and the skills needed to prepare for future careers.

Representatives from nonprofit organizations and community groups help students understand how service, advocacy, fundraising, and outreach can improve the lives of others.

These experiences encourage compassion, social responsibility, and active citizenship while showing students how organizations respond to community needs and create meaningful local impact.

Students may participate in interviews, question-and-answer sessions, classroom discussions, assemblies, and presentations with visiting leaders and professionals.

These activities strengthen communication, active listening, research, confidence, and public-speaking skills. They also give students opportunities to ask thoughtful questions and connect classroom learning with real-world experiences.

The Community Leadership Program may include school visits, community events, workplace exposure, government visits, educational tours, and other off-campus learning experiences.

These opportunities allow students to observe leadership in action, explore different environments, discover possible careers, and better understand how schools and community organizations work together.

REAL-WORLD LEARNING

Helping Students See Leadership in Action

Meeting leaders from government, education, business, and community organizations helps students connect classroom learning with real-world responsibilities and opportunities.

These experiences encourage students to ask questions, consider future careers, understand civic life, and recognize the value of service and leadership.
